Van Horne Community Luncheon November 22
A community luncheon will be held on November 22 at the Van Horne Community Center. Blood pressure checks will be offered at 11:30 a.m., followed by a Thanksgiving meal at noon.Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by November 18 to Brenda at (319) 442-3234 or email bengelking@keystonecare.org.
Christmas Tree Walk showcases Talent and Creativity FINAL Bids on November 19
Come to Virginia Gay Hospital on November 19th to put a final bid in on your favorite Christmas selection! Enter through the Vinton Family Clinic and go up the elevator to the Clinic Conference Room to see the arrangement up for bid.You will see characters from the Peanuts cartoon, a Hawkeye tree, a charcuterie board along with a couple of bottles of wine, gorgeous wreaths, a bench made from a GMC tailgate, a Disney display, a quilt, Mickey Mouse even made it into the display.
Vinton Lions Club Chili Supper to support Eastern Iowa Honor Flights Nov. 17
The annual Vinton Lions Club Chili Supper will be held next Thursday, to support Eastern Iowa Honor Flights. Make plans on November 17 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. to stop at the Vinton Fire Station before or after the Christmas parade!Cost is a freewill donation.
Lighted Holiday Parade Thursday, November 17
The local Veteran groups will host the Lighted Holiday Parade on Thursday evening, November 17 in downtown Vinton. This year will mark the 15th year for the parade. There is no pre-registration or cost to participate. Line-up begins at 5:30 p.m.east and south of the United Methodist Church.The theme for the parade as always is patriotic or Christm
Newhall Food Drive through December 9
The Newhall Fire Department is hosting its first-ever food drive. The goal is to provide food to families and individuals in the community who are in need through the Christmas season. A freezer/refrigerator will be provided to hold items that need to stay cold. If no one is at the department, please leave food items outside the west door as it is monitored frequently.
Downtown holiday Open House November 20, 12-4:00 p.m.
Vinton's Downtown Annual Holiday Open House is scheduled to be held on Sunday, November 20th from noon until 4:00 p.m.Area businesses will be opening their stores to welcome shoppers to begin the Holiday Shopping Season. Mark your calendar and get ready to start your Christmas shopping!
Vinton American Legion Post 57 Upcoming Meal Information
The Vinton American Legion Post 57 will not be having tenderloin fries in November and December due to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Starting with the December 9th Fish Fry we will be serving french fries in place of baked potatoes.January, February and March we will not have fish fries on the Second Friday of the month. Instead, we will be having tenderloin fries on those dates.
Luzerne to hold Firemen’s Supper November 19
The Luzerne firemen’s supper will be held on Saturday, November 19 and will be serving from 5 to 8:00 p.m. The menu included pork loin sandwiches, cheese potatoes, baked beans and dessert for a freewill donation. is a drive-through event; meals will be delivered to vehicles.
Wesley United Methodist Church Christmas Rummage Sale Sunday, November 20
Wesley United Methodist Church, 516 2nd Ave, Vinton, will be hosting aChristmas Rummage Sale in their fireplace room in the basement of thechurch. The event will be held this Sunday from noon until 4:00 p.m., the same hours as the downtown open houses. Freewill donations go toward missions. We've got trees, wreaths, puzzles, ornaments, garland, you name it.
St. John Lutheran Church (Newhall) to host Soup Supper November 16
St. John Lutheran Church, Newhall, will host a soup supper Wednesday, November 16, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The menu includes homemade chili, oyster stew, chicken noodle soup, salads, sandwiches, pie and a drink for a freewill offering. Dine-in or take-out available.The event is sponsored by St. John’s Tabitha Society. All proceeds will go to mission projects.
